Tchotchke (pronounced CHACH-kee) are small toys, gewgaws, knickknacks, baubles, trinkets, or kitsch. The term has a connotation of worthlessness or disposability, as well as tackiness. Ok, I must admit… I have referred to these in this blog before as knickknacks because I had ABSOLUTELY no idea how to spell the word, but having grown up referring to (and collecting) these babies… it was time I learned! And I have to disagree with the Wikipedia definition above, because Tchotchkes are not necessarily worthless. If done right, they can ROCK!
