It’s pretty apparent that Pinterest has become quite a success, and it really is a fantastic online solution to an inspirational board… but like most awesome tools out there, there are of course some downsides.
Blogger Crafty Pod brought attention to a debate that’s been taking off in Pinterest-land about whether or not “re-pinning” an image without proper citation is an ethical violation of the owner’s copyrights.
For example, if you re-pin an image to your personal board but don’t list it’s original source for others to see, is this fair to the originator? And to take it one step further, if you re-pin something from let’s say Etsy, onto your DIY board as something you can recreate on the cheap (which I will admit I have done), is that unfair to the Etsy shop?
