Love it or Leave it: Neon Decor

My wardrobe has been all over the neon trend this summer, and like most other fashion trends, neon has made its way into home decor! So what do you think? Should neon stick to just accent pieces, or be the focal point of a room?  Or perhaps there’s no room for this bright hue in your home… Source Source Source Source Source Source Although neon does not necessarily fit with my personal design aesthetic, as I tend to like a more rustic and vintage look for my home,

Trend Alert: Ombre

A few years ago I decided to highlight  my hair.  BIG MISTAKE!  I’ll spare you the details, but let’s just say I had to have my entire head dyed jet black to cover the crazy “highlight” job, which according to the hair stylist, meant dye the top of my head red.  Here is the best photo I could find, as I tried to stay away from cameras as much as possible during this hair period… Well after a few months, the highlights started peering through at the bottom of my hair, creating this “fade” look which I actually

Hello Navajo

I have been digging the Navajo trend for quite some time now, and think fall is the best season to try out this look in your home.  Plus the beautiful earth tones in a Navajo rug would look so good as you sip your spiced apple latte in your new fall sweater, right? Can’t get enough

One of my favorite blogs, Elements of Style posted about the amazing trend of Moroccan prints yesterday, and while I shared my obsession for these a few months back HERE, I couldn’t help but spread the love again… As you will see, it’s been on my mind lately…  Here I am last week in the bathroom (yes bathroom) of a restaurant on the seaport, taking a photo of the amazing quatrefoil wallpaper!  Inspiration is everywhere folks! But if you prefer shopping for this pattern in stores, no problemo. Sources: 1 – Keep reading…

Watch out for Washi!

What is Washi you ask? I’m so glad you did, because it’s my new obsession. Cutetape.com This multi-purpose adhesive tape is made of washi, which is handmade Japanese paper.   Think masking tape, but much cooler. It is easy to tear, write on, and remove – and so I’ve decided it’s the newest MUST have for adding (easy and cheap) color to your home decor. Take a look at how versatile this stuff it! I use clothespins ALL the time (something I picked up from my fiance actually).  They’re a great alternative to chip clips, especially when you

What’s all the buzz about?

Honeycomb, that’s what!! As you may recall from a previous post, I have a soft spot for anything geometric, and this honeycomb print is no exception!  I’ve been seeing it around quite a bit now, in both furniture and textile form, and as you can see it’s quite versatile. Now normally I would stay clear of this pattern, because at first glance it screams “modern” and that just ain’t my personal style… but it’s actually starting to grow on me!  I could totally see this in my dining room in rug form  What about you? C’mon,
