DIY Jewelry Organizer

I love jewelry. Not the fine stuff, but the inexpensive eclectic stuff that I’ve collected at thrift stores, etsy shops and boutiques over the years. My toddler also loves jewelry. Not so much wearing it but playing with it, throwing it, tangling it, or putting in our dog’s mouth. Lovely. I realized it was time to move my collection out of reach, and I am super excited to show you my recent DIY organizer that cost $25 and took an hour to make! I got my inspiration from Pinterest (where else?) so thanks to you lovely ladies for providing me

On Nesting…

Before getting pregnant, I thought “nesting” was an old wive’s tale, up there with crazy pickle cravings and those gender predictor myths. But I can now speak from experience that this pregnancy symptom is 100% accurate! Nesting: Refers to an instinct or urge in pregnant animals to prepare a home for the upcoming newborn(s). It is found in a variety of animals (both mammals and birds) including humans. Source “Nesting brings about some unique and seemingly irrational behaviors in pregnant women and all of them experience it differently. Women have reported throwing away perfectly good sheets and towels

Let’s Talk Chalk

One of my most useful DIYs to date is my chalkboard menu and shopping list. It’s been the most helpful way for me to keep track of things I need to pick up at the store, and you can read all about how to make your own, on the cheap, here. While I was happy with the overall idea, I was finding the actual chalk part to be messy and tough to write with. I like things neat, and chalk ain’t neat. Well it just so happened that while Tony and I were out for lunch

Ikea Hack: Besta Desk

This Ikea desk is so properly named the “Besta” because it is seriously the best. And it actually got even better this week, as I added some personal touches to the already sleek and functional design! But let’s back up for a sec…. So I have been in great need of a new desk, since my last one (scored by my dad free on the sidewalk – thanks dad!) was a little too small for me. It also didn’t have any storage space so I found that my computer was always competing with paperwork. And where was I supposed to

Fun Finds Friday

I collect New Uses for Old Things ideas like it’s my job. And I have to say, that I have used a ton of these life savor and cheap techniques with great success over the years… So let’s share, shall we? Check out my Pinterest board for original sources here. Use a rubber band to remove a stripped screw. I am the queen of stripping (HA!) so this one will definitely come in handy. Not too long ago I dropped one of my diamond earrings, and I just knew that if I didn’t find it, Roxy’s

Kitchen Command Center

Do you have a room or a space in your home that has unofficially become the command center? You know, that counter/table/chair/basket that seems to collect odds and end from the week? It ironically seems to double as the place you go to first when something is lost, which means it’s helpful if it’s organized. For us, it’s the kitchen counter by the back door.   God we have a lot of crap. But even though it’s stuff we use everyday and it’s in a convenient location, it is U-G-L-Y and it was time for a cleanup. I

The little things…

Don’t forget to enter the $50 Etsy shop giveaway! Free stuff, yay! Click here to enter. A lot of times it’s the small and inexpensive home improvements or decor that make me the happiest. This week, it’s our new kitchen trash can. Yes that’s right… I’m excited about a trash can. What can I say, I’m easily pleased! When we first moved in, our trash can sat awkwardly against a wall, no where near the kitchen counter. That got annoying after like 5 minutes, so we decided to move it into a cabinet. Keep reading…
