Personalized Baby Art

One of the most exciting things for me in setting up the baby’s soon-to-be room is adding personal touches to the decor. I knew I wanted to have a mini gallery wall that included decor that was cute, stimulating for a baby, but also from the heart! And so here is a quick look at the wall so far, which includes three pieces of custom “art” that I created especially for this little guy As always, thanks Pinterest for the inspiration! I have a decorative letter that I’ll be hanging below the middle item, but since we’re keeping our baby

Calling all bloggers!

Hi friends! So sorry for the little hiatus. Life has gotten a little crazy, mostly having to do with getting ready for Baby Hopf to arrive! I’ve had two incredibly beautiful baby showers (thank you again Mom and thank you work!) and so there’s been a lot of unpacking, organizing, washing, setting up… HOLY BABY STUFF!!!! We’ve also been smack in the middle of a heat wave, which has seriously reduced my motivation to do anything that involves sitting my swollen body upstairs at my computer. I wish I could say the hiatus is over, but in all

And I’m back! I hope you all had a lovely Memorial Day weekend. I attended what was likely the most beautiful wedding EVER and still can’t get over the fact that my little brother is now married!!! The Wequasett Resort in Chatham, MA was the most stunning venue I have ever seen, so anyone interested in a classy cape wedding, I recommend checking it out! Love you Joe & Lindsay!!! Oh but it hasn’t been all wedding fun… We’ve been quite busy over at the Hopf house. There’s been some front yard

Fun with Knobs

I love quick and easy projects that have big impact. Ikea dresser/changing table before… Ikea dresser/changing table after a trip to Anthropologie! When you don’t spend a lot on the dresser, you can justify the splurge on the knobs I decided to mix and match a bit with their Singular Bloom Knobs I’m sure baby will greatly appreciate the decor effort šŸ˜‰

Copy Cat Project: Hanging Elephants

It’s not often that one of the millions of pins on my DIY Pinterest board turns into a reality, but that’s about to change, folks! I came across this adorable wall art idea on Pinterest a few months ago, and decided I needed to have it. Well go figure, I could NOT find the original source anywhere [#pinterestpinfail] but that’s okay because the DIY version is always more fun. Here is the inspiration: Love the whole room, but it’s those elephants I’m after! Here’s another and close up version I found, also on Pinterest, with no

Teach Me Tuesday: Color Harmony

Last Week I shared with you a fun color pallet website called Kuler (did you play around for hours???) and so today I’d like to talk about color harmony, which is a way of using the standard color wheel to create aesthetically pleasing combinations. Whether you’re choosing paint colors or just decorating a room, it might be helpful to keep some of these general color rules of thumb in mind when mixing and matching hues. However it’s also important to point out that what may be pleasing to one

Free Tool for Color Pallets

Happy “your taxes are due” day, Patriots Day, Boston Marathon Day, and “I have the day off from work” day! BOOOYEAH!!! Alrighty, back to blog business. So I love color. Thankfully so does T, which is why we do not have one white wall in our house. But while color can be fun to work with, it can also be totally overwhelming! So today I’d like to talk about color pallets, and share great web resource from Adobe called Kuler that makes choosing pallets fun and easy. From the Kuler Website: AdobeĀ® KulerĀ® is a web-hosted application for

Sneak Peak: Nursery Phase 1

So we have a pretty crazy summer schedule ahead of us. Between the two of us there is work travel to California and Arizona, bachelor parties and birthday parties in NYC, Montreal and Myrtle Beach, my little brother’s wedding (AHHH!!! CAN’T WAIT) on the Cape, a major yard renovation… And oh, you know, a baby being born somewhere in there…. So April is our official “Get Sh*t Done” month. Now I need to give a major shout out to Tony who has been a rock star these past few weeks. Since all things for the new baby room seem to

Tips for Space Layout

One of my favorite parts about designing a room is figuring out the layout. I love the initial process of taking measurements and figuring out the best use of space for our furniture. Sidenote: I am NOT good at actually taking measurements… I’ve always been a “ball park” or “eye ball it” kinda gal, and that doesn’t usually fly when you’re dealing with layouts. So Tony, the engineer, is usually the captain of that team… but then I get to play! So here is the layout of what was once a guest room/exercise room/office and will eventually be a nursery/office.
