We did it again…

I need to come clean. I kiiinda bought another living room rug. Ok, not kinda. I really did. I think I might have a problem [See previous post here on our musical rug situation]. But this one is totally justifiable… hear me out, okay? I was practically forced to buy a new rug, for two reasons… First – My husband said the current rug made him dizzy. No joke. And this has been backed up by numerous house guests (Did he pay them off? Possibly.) But I kind of saw his point as the herringbone pattern looks

Musical Rugs

Our living room has seen it’s fair share of rugs in one year. I seem to have a weakness in this department. First it was the Aztec from Ikea…. Too small and better in the office. Then the Geometric Orange from RugsUSA… Still too small (what was I thinking?) and has been moved to the future baby room. And now the Herringbone from RugsUSA The size and color are perfect, but Tony says it makes him dizzy. By the way… I do not have Roxy “pose” for these pictures. No joke, she just loves the camera! I’m not 100% in

Sunk Down

Whenever I day dream about my fantasy home… which I plan to live in in 10 years of course… I tend to focus on strange details and little unique elements that might not necessarily pop up when you google Dream House. Well one such element is a sunken living room. I don’t know what it is about the step down access that makes me feel all warm and fuzzy, but I just love it. I doubt it’s common and most likely not a renovation project we could do ourselves… but hey, it’s fun to dream. Via Keep reading…

Cheap window tricks

You know what rocks? New picture windows! You know what doesn’t? Replacing the curtains! So now that our brand new windows are in, the sun is shining just a little too bright. No I’m not a vampire. Stay with me now and I’ll explain… Our sheer white curtains, which actually came with our house and were custom made to fit the large windows, now don’t keep the light out. And that means watching TV in the living room during daylight hours is impossible. I know, life’s hard. So I spent a few weeks searching for inexpensive replacement curtains however was

Mount it baby

Anyone need a TV stand? Because apparently we are now “too cool” to have our TVs anywhere near the floor and have a few to giveaway. Also my husband found this super secret website that sells TV mounts for “wicked” cheap… So of course we need to buy one for every TV in the house. FYI: The website is monoprice.com. Wanna see? Of course you do! Here is the TV area of our bedroom before we got super slick and upgraded to a flat screen. This is also before we had window shades. Hello neighbors!!! And here is

Living Room Spotlight!

It’s time to get up close and personal with our living room! Let’s back up a sec to make this as dramatic as possible, k? Remember the before shots??? First came the get down and dirty work, which I shared with you here. But then came the fun stuff… The decorating! I’ve tried to list where everything is from, and you’ll notice that not only am I a crazy Craigslist junkie (don’t judge) but that I don’t believe that decor needs to be expensive. There are incredible finds at Target, TJMaxx, Flea Markets, etc…

Red Door Reality

A few weeks ago I wrote about red doors inside the home… And after checking out lot’s of other brick homes in our area, Tony and I decided that red was the way to go for our front door! After a little debate, we decided to paint both the outside and inside of the door red, to add a pop of color to our living room, and to help bring out our brick red fireplace. First I narrowed it down to 3 color options: I wanted to get an idea of what this might look

Pouf! There it is….

POUF! It’s the answer to our living room seating shortage, and hot damn I want one now! Source We never seem to have enough seating when friends come over. You know, we’re just soooo popular! 😉 And since we don’t have room for another sofa or club chair in our living room, these small ottomans seem like the perfect solution. They add a pop of color to the room, are not at all obtrusive, and in fact are quite comfortable! I’m particularly fond of these cuties, which are known as Moroccan Poufs. Source But
