Confession.

I’m in love. With a trashcan. I never thought I could feel the feelings I feel (whoa!) for something that contains my trash, but friends, this is the real thing. I also never thought I would spend this much money on a trash can, but let me tell you, it’s been worth every penny. Let me explain. Our old kitchen trashcan was hidden in a cabinet, so I couldn’t have cared less about what it looked like. But we don’t have that option in our new house, which means the can would be on constant display. So now not only

Kitchen Update, Take 2

Backstory: For those just tuning in, we have moved! So this post, which has been hanging in draft land for several months, is no longer accurate as this is not our kitchen anymore, but I still wanted to share with you our final kitchen update because the progression was so much fun to go through. Our first kitchen makeover happened shortly after we moved in (full post here). This included replacing the appliances, restructuring some of the cabinets, and making a space for a dishwasher. We then sat tight for about 2 years, saved up some money, and then

Quick meals… for reals.

Before having a baby, I almost always made dinner for me and Tony during the week. I’m far from being an amazing cook, and to be honest, I don’t loooove cooking as much as I wish I did, but I do like having a meal prepared for us to eat together, and so this became really challenging when C was born. In fact, this stressed me out more than I am comfortable to admit (oh wait, I kinda just did) and I spent a lot of time trying to figure out how I was going to get a cooked meal

Fancy Pants Fridge

I’ve expressed my love of seltzer before on the blog, so it’s no surprise that I’m obsessed with the new Samsung refrigerator. Why? It has a freakin’ built in seltzer disposal!!! Don’t worry Mr. Soda Stream… at close to $4k for a unit, I won’t be replacing you any time soon. But a girl can dream, eh?

Let’s Talk Chalk

One of my most useful DIYs to date is my chalkboard menu and shopping list. It’s been the most helpful way for me to keep track of things I need to pick up at the store, and you can read all about how to make your own, on the cheap, here. While I was happy with the overall idea, I was finding the actual chalk part to be messy and tough to write with. I like things neat, and chalk ain’t neat. Well it just so happened that while Tony and I were out for lunch

Kitchen Command Center

Do you have a room or a space in your home that has unofficially become the command center? You know, that counter/table/chair/basket that seems to collect odds and end from the week? It ironically seems to double as the place you go to first when something is lost, which means it’s helpful if it’s organized. For us, it’s the kitchen counter by the back door.   God we have a lot of crap. But even though it’s stuff we use everyday and it’s in a convenient location, it is U-G-L-Y and it was time for a cleanup. I

10 Minute Makeover

My post last week reminded me of my stash of Washi tape that was collecting dust in my craft box, so I took 10 minutes this weekend and made a quick update to our window shutter card holder. You can read more about the shutter project here! All you need is Washi tape and clothespins. I got my Washi tape on Etsy, which has a fabulous selection! Simply lay the tape on the exposed side of the clothespin. Most have a flat

Cheap kitchen must haves

While we’re on the topic of little things…I came to the realization the other day that many of my “can’t live without” kitchen items happen to be small and cheapity cheap. Well ain’t that good news for you ’cause I like to share! So here goes my short list, complete with my personal review: *** As a working lady who also likes to make dinner every night, my crock pot is my savior. However I have an oldie (but a goodie) crock pot which means I was limited to meals that required 10+ hours of

The little things…

Don’t forget to enter the $50 Etsy shop giveaway! Free stuff, yay! Click here to enter. A lot of times it’s the small and inexpensive home improvements or decor that make me the happiest. This week, it’s our new kitchen trash can. Yes that’s right… I’m excited about a trash can. What can I say, I’m easily pleased! When we first moved in, our trash can sat awkwardly against a wall, no where near the kitchen counter. That got annoying after like 5 minutes, so we decided to move it into a cabinet. Keep reading…
