Deal of the Day Shopping for Moms and Kids!

April 3rd, 2013 One of my most useful DIYs to date is my chalkboard menu and shopping list. It’s been the most helpful way for me to keep track of things I need to pick up at the store, and you can read all about how to make your own, on the cheap, here. While I was happy with the overall idea, I was finding the actual chalk part to be messy and tough to write with. I like things neat, and chalk ain’t neat. Well it just so happened that while Tony and I were out for lunch the other day, the

February 18th, 2013 Do you have a room or a space in your home that has unofficially become the command center? You know, that counter/table/chair/basket that seems to collect odds and end from the week? It ironically seems to double as the place you go to first when something is lost, which means it’s helpful if it’s organized. For us, it’s the kitchen counter by the back door. God we have a lot of crap. But even though it’s stuff we use everyday and it’s in a convenient location, it is U-G-L-Y and it was time for a cleanup.

February 1st, 2013 My post last week reminded me of my stash of Washi tape that was collecting dust in my craft box, so I took 10 minutes this weekend and made a quick update to our window shutter card holder. You can read more about the shutter project here! All you need is Washi tape and clothespins. I got my Washi tape on Etsy, which has a fabulous selection! Simply lay the tape on the exposed side of the clothespin. Most have a flat

January 25th, 2013 While we’re on the topic of little things…I came to the realization the other day that many of my “can’t live without” kitchen items happen to be small and cheapity cheap. Well ain’t that good news for you ’cause I like to share! So here goes my short list, complete with my personal review: *** As a working lady who also likes to make dinner every night, my crock pot is my savior. However I have an oldie (but a goodie) crock pot which means I was limited to meals that required 10+ hours of

January 23rd, 2013 Don’t forget to enter the $50 Etsy shop giveaway! Free stuff, yay! Click here to enter. A lot of times it’s the small and inexpensive home improvements or decor that make me the happiest. This week, it’s our new kitchen trash can. Yes that’s right… I’m excited about a trash can. What can I say, I’m easily pleased! When we first moved in, our trash can sat awkwardly against a wall, no where near the kitchen counter. That got annoying after like 5 minutes, so we decided to move it into a cabinet. Keep reading…
January 4th, 2013 Ready for another thrilling vacation story? This one is even more exciting than the garage post, I swear. So it was particularly cold during my time off, which meant I didn’t feel guilty staying in my sweatpants all day and never leaving the house. No judgment friends, I know many of you did the same Well one of the PJ days I decided to devote to organizing the kitchen. One of my biggest pet peeves is not knowing what’s hiding deep in the back of my cabinets, leading me to buy duplicates or even triplicates (is that a word?) of

December 27th, 2012 When it comes to your drinking glasses, are you a downward or an upward? This debate has been brought up at many friendly gatherings, and there seems to be a valid argument against both. If you store the glasses upright, then dirt and dust can fall in. But if you store them upside down, then the rim gets dirty. Also, neither option allows for adequate drying after being unloaded from the dishwasher. What ever shall we do??? Well question no longer because introducing the Bevel Cup. As you can see, problem solved! Bevel Cup is a 2012 Keep reading…
October 31st, 2012 I love using old mason jars to store various things around the house, and one of my favorite (and practical) uses is storing my baking ingredients. Not only do the jars keep things like sugar, flour and oats real fresh, but I dig the way they look which means I leave them out on open shelves in our kitchen. Well a few weeks ago my husband, who plays more of a “guest star” role in the kitchen, was cooking and almost mistook the flour for convenctioners sugar. Not an appetizing susbtitute. The reason for the close call is that I don’t

October 3rd, 2012 Anyone need a TV stand? Because apparently we are now “too cool” to have our TVs anywhere near the floor and have a few to giveaway. Also my husband found this super secret website that sells TV mounts for “wicked” cheap… So of course we need to buy one for every TV in the house. FYI: The website is monoprice.com. Wanna see? Of course you do! Here is the TV area of our bedroom before we got super slick and upgraded to a flat screen. This is also before we had window shades. Hello neighbors!!! And here
