Happy “your taxes are due” day, Patriots Day, Boston Marathon Day, and “I have the day off from work” day! BOOOYEAH!!! Alrighty, back to blog business. So I love color. Thankfully so does T, which is why we do not have one white wall in our house. But while color can be fun to work with, it can also be totally overwhelming! So today I’d like to talk about color pallets, and share great web resource from Adobe called Kuler that makes choosing pallets fun and easy. This past weekend we (and by we I really mean T-man) began painting the soon-to-be baby room! Gotta love the doctor rec of avoiding being around toxic paints As I told you in a previous post, we decided to go with a navy blue for the walls, but of course there are about a million shades of navy blue to choose from. If we didn’t spend 10,000 hours removing wallpaper and repainting our entire house, I would totally jump on this non-committal bandwagon. The stuff goes up and down fairly easily, and now comes in some super trendy patterns and colors. Here are a few prints (and sites Last week I had the pleasure of attending a fantastic event at the Marimekko store in Cambridge, where guest speaker Kara Butterfield (Interior Stylist and Editor for Boston Home Magazine) spoke to an intimate group of home decor lovin’ ladies, chowing down on Ko Pies (amazing meat pies) and Proseco. Not bad for a Thursday night! Kara was fabulous, and in a really honest and down to earth way, she provided us with some easy tips to bring your personality to your home decor. I also decided that Kara has my dream job!!! Obsession! I recently finished the last book of the 50 Shades of Gray trilogy and almost shed a tear that it was over. What now Miss Kindle??? So in an attempt to prolong the obsession, I’m very cleverly tying the book to my blog. Sneaky, huh? No in all seriousness, the color gray has been the “IT” neutral for quite some time. I’m really happy with the gray that we chose for our living room: Behr Paint in Gentle Rain But it was not an easy process, since there are so many fantastic shades to WOW what a weekend! Shout out to my in-laws who once again helped make miracles happen! I promise to post soon about the kitchen mini reno, and the vast amounts of yard work we did this weekend (to the tune of 30 bags of yard waste)… But until the job is totally complete (hopefully by this weekend) let’s turn our attention to what appears to be a fast evolving decor trend, and one I may just jump on this summer… Can you guess what is it? I’ll spare you the details, but let’s just say I had to have my entire head dyed jet black to cover the crazy “highlight” job, which according to the hair stylist, meant dye the top of my head red. Here is the best photo I could find, as I tried to stay away from cameras as much as possible during this hair period… Well after a few months, the highlights started peering through at the bottom of my hair, creating this “fade” look which I actually Hello heat wave!!! It’s supposed to feel like 103 in Boston today, so stay cool everyone! All this heat made me think of my previous trip to Miami, and so I wanted to post today about the very Miami-ish, very fun, bright color room styles that seem to be trendier than expected….
