A flokati rug is a handmade shag wool rug. Making flokatis is a long-time tradition of the Vlachs in the Pindus mountains. The natural color of a flokati rug is off-white, but they may be dyed different colors. The entire rug is wool, including the backing from which the tapered shag emerges. After the rug is woven, it is placed in the cold water of a river to fluff the shag. They continue to be handmade in the mountains of Greece and are regarded as desirable in American modern decor and children’s rooms. Source
If we didn’t have a dog that might mistake this for a porta potty or animal to “play” with, I’d be all over one of these. They look like heaven for your feet!

Only $79 at Ikea!
Afraid of white? Not to worry, Flokati comes in lot’s of colors!

They look so soft and comfy! I recently got a white shag rug off overstock…I don’t know if it’s flokati, but I’m hoping our dog doesn’t destroy it!
Oh my gosh, those rugs look so cozy! I’d love to have something like that in front of the fireplace…
I just saw the rug at ikea. So soft and cozy sadly I don’t have any room for it now . But it is pretty and affordable
