When we redid our kitchen we lost a lot of storage, including the cabinet that housed all of our pots and pans. Tear.
At first I thought to myself “Hallelujah. I don’t have to cook EVER AGAIN!”. But then contemplated the effects of eating sushi and Anna’s Taqueria burritos every day for the rest of my life, and decided we need another solution.
Enter: The Wall Pot Rack.
We did a lot of shopping around for this bad boy, because when you’re hanging something this heavy on a wall, it has GOT TO BE SECURE!
We ultimately decided on the Cuisinart Chef’s Classic 36-Inch Rectangular Bookshelf Rack. It was a bit pricey but it met all of our criteria:
1. Stainless steal
2. Large (wanted a rack that was 36″ wide so we could fit everything).
3. Durably constructed
4. Got great reviews on Amazon!
But before you get all excited, there is a very important note on hanging!
This rack MUST be mounted directly into the wall studs because of how heavy it is. There is no messin’ around here! This rack has pre-drilled holes spaced for 16″ studs (32″ apart) which is a standard stud width in most houses.
So before you buy a rack, check to see where your wall studs are. Here are a few ways to do this:
* Buy an electric stud finder (insert joke here)
* Look for an outlet or switch. Electrical boxes are usually anchored to studs.
* Tap the wall with your knuckles and listen to the sound. When you’ve hit a stud, the wall will sound solid; tapping over unsupported drywall will give you a hollow sound.
* Or my favorite inexpensive solution… Use a magnet! We found the magnet tip on YouTube (video below) and it worked really well for us!
And in about an hour, I was totally in love…

Look how much it holds!! We even got our grilling stuff on there!
Addition: I found a silver lid rack at our local thrift store for $1 (SCORE!) but you can get one on Amazon for about $12.

What’s great is that this takes up NO cabinet storage, and it is so easy to grab your pots and pans when you need them.
{Sorry Mr. Sushi delivery man… We’ll be seeing less of you now!}

How do you reach all that stuff on the top?? I’m too short!!!
Step ladder, my friend! It’s a permanent fixture in our kitchen, since as you know, I am vertically challenged as well.
This is fantastic! I am trying to figure out if I can squish one in my kitchen. Our pots and pans are shoved in a lower cabinet and it is such a pain in the butt. Thanks for sharing!
Oh, and I love the new look! The bricks are super cute =)
